Offenbach (dpa / lrs) – In the first week of Advent, the weather remains wet and cold. In addition to rain and snow, stormy winds threaten. The week starts with clouds. On Monday afternoon, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland expect sleet and snow showers. The German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach expects temperatures of a maximum of five degrees. At night it can be slippery on the snowy and rainy roads.

Already at the weekend, pre-winter conditions caused problems for drivers in the north of the Saarland. On the A1 near the junction at Otzenhausen near Nonnweiler (St. Wendel district), a truck driver lost control of his vehicle in slippery ice and snowfall, the police said. The team driving in the direction of Trier skidded, the tractor and trailer wedged and fell into the ditch. The 44-year-old driver was seriously injured in a Rhineland-Palatinate hospital on Saturday evening. In Nohfelden (St. Wendel district), according to the police, a milk truck slipped off the road and overturned. Around 14,000 liters of milk leaked out. The 47-year-old driver from Rhineland-Palatinate was slightly injured. The accident happened late on Friday evening.

The weather on Tuesday shows a lot of rain. During the day it snows mainly in the mountains. In addition, the DWD expects strong gusts of wind at temperatures between two and seven degrees. On Wednesday it should be warmer, but wetter. Rain is announced.
