Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – In the southwest it snowed on Wednesday night – on the Feldberg in the Black Forest in some places quite a lot. As a spokesman for the German Weather Service (DWD) said, the snowfall weakened nationwide by noon and then stopped altogether. In the southern Black Forest on the Feldberg up to 100 centimeters of snow fell in some places, in the northern Black Forest around 25 centimeters. Overall, there is an average of about 15 centimeters of snow at altitudes around 1000 meters.
There is currently a warning about snow and freezing wet in the Black Forest regions. According to the information, there is permafrost in the mountains at minus two degrees.
According to the website of the Feldberg Lift Association, skiing is possible again there, 4 of 39 lifts are in operation. The lift association itself could not be reached at first.
