Frankfurt (dpa / lhe) – Storm low “Ignatz” caused many fire and police operations in Hesse on Thursday. In the Fulda district in particular, the police received numerous reports in the early morning. Various police spokesmen reported fallen trees, parasols flying around, or a trampoline being blown away. Occasionally, there was minor damage to property. There were no reports of injuries in the morning or at night. The railway also initially reported no blocked routes or disruptions in train traffic nationwide. According to warnings from the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach, there is still a risk of gale-force gusts in parts of Hesse for hours.

For parts of the country, the storm warnings were level three out of four in the morning. There is a risk that trees will be uprooted or roofs damaged. People should watch out for falling branches or roof tiles. Windows and doors should remain closed. Staying outdoors should be avoided if possible. By the afternoon there could be heavy gusts of wind at speeds of up to 90 kilometers per hour. In the southern half of the morning, gale-force gusts of up to 110 kilometers per hour are also possible.

According to the DWD, it is mostly cloudy in the morning and there can be showers and brief thunderstorms. Only in the evening would the showers subside and there would be some relaxation. The temperatures do not rise above 16 degrees. On Friday there can be more showers, mainly in the northern half, and squalls are also possible here. In the evening and on Saturday night the weather calms down.
