Weather – Offenbach am Main – beginning of summer in Hesse clearly too warm and too sunny – panorama

Offenbach (dpa / lhe) – After a clearly too warm spring, the summer in Hesse started above average. As can be seen from the provisional monthly balance sheet of the German Weather Service (DWD), the average temperature in June was 16.6 degrees. That is 1.4 degrees more than the average of the internationally valid reference period from 1961 to 1990. The sun also shone at 200 hours, around eight hours more than the average in June, as the DWD announced on Monday in Offenbach.

“Overall, June 2020 was a bit too warm, but otherwise presented itself with typical Central European summer weather,” the DWD summed up after the first evaluation of its approximately 2000 measuring stations. After that, around 75 liters of rain per square meter fell in Hesse in the first meteorological summer month. This corresponds almost to the long-term average of 80 liters. In a nationwide comparison, it was somewhat drier overall in Hesse than in the rest of the republic.

The spring was already too warm and too sunny. The average temperature in March, April and May was 9.5 degrees, 1.7 degrees above the comparable period. In addition, only a good 110 liters of rain fell – the target value in spring is 191 liters per square meter.
