Weather in Valncia: Temperatures will reach 30 degrees

The Valencian Community is preparing for an atypical Puente de Mayo with abnormally high temperatures, more typical of the summer months, which will be around 30 degrees. The situation of high pressures that is being established on the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands will cause a continued and general rise in temperatures, as reported by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

In this sense, the state agency has explained that it starts like this an episode of “abnormally” high temperatures for the time of year, which will run “most likely” until Tuesday the 5th in most regions.

Specifically, this Friday the rise will be general, becoming notable in some areas of the interior of the peninsula, and temperatures will begin to rise above the usual values for these dates in large areas of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands.

In this way, the highest values this day will correspond to the Mediterranean area, the Guadalquivir valley and the middle Ebro, where themaximums will exceed 26 and 28ºC, especially in Levante areas.

Regarding the day on Saturday, the Agency has advanced that it will continue the almost general rise in temperatures, although more moderate in most areas. It will probably exceed 28 and 30ºC in Andalusia, the southeast and the middle Ebro, again corresponding the highest temperatures to areas of the Communities of Valencia and Murcia.

The situation will increase Sunday and Monday with the entry of a warm air mass from North Africa, which will cause an even more pronounced rise in temperatures, especially in the western half of the peninsula and in the Cantabrian area.

According to AEMET, temperatures will be “markedly” above their normal values in all regions, except in areas of the Mediterranean where decreases are forecast compared to the previous days.

So, the maximum will exceed 25ºC during these days in almost all areas, except mountain areas. It is very likely that they exceed 30ºC in the southern half of the peninsula and the Ebro valley and could even exceed 32-34ºC in the Tagus, Guadiana, Ebro and, above all, the Guadalquivir valleys.

Further, on Tuesday it is very likely that, due to the influence of an Atlantic front, there will be a notable decline of temperatures in the western half of the peninsula, recovering its normal values in the westernmost third, but this episode of high temperatures persists in the rest. This day the temperatures of the Ebro valley are likely to stand out, with values that could once again exceed 32-34 degrees.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the temperature changes are likely to be slight and with a tendency to decrease, thus approaching more common values throughout the country.

As for the Canary Islands, rising temperatures are also expected over the next few days but staying close to their normal values.

Prediction for the next days

In relation to the forecast for the next few days, the Agency has indicated that the displacement of a frontal area near the Cantabrian coast this Friday and Saturday, will lead to to some rainfall in the extreme north of the peninsula that will lose their extension and intensity.

In this way, rainfall will affect Galicia this Friday, being locally persistent in the Rias Bajas, Cantabrico, extreme northwest of Castilla y León, Alto Ebro and the Pyrenees, with strong winds on the Galician coast and strong intervals in other areas of the third north.

On Saturday the rainfall will continue in the west of Galicia and, in the afternoon and in isolation, with showers in mountains of the extreme north, with some interval of strong wind on the north Galician coast.

On the other hand, for Sunday, the AEMET foresees a general predominance of high pressures and dry weather.

The week of May 4 to 10 will begin with a predominance of stable weather and temperatures rising on Monday, exceeding 30 degrees in many areas of the interior, especially in the southwest quadrant, blowing east wind with strong intervals in the Strait and Alboran.

However, it is very likely the arrival of an Atlantic front in the second half of the day to the northwest of the peninsula, with rainfall in Galicia and nearby areas that on Tuesday would spread to other areas of the northwestern third and extreme north, with a drop in temperatures in the western half of the peninsula, although they could still exceed 30 degrees in wide areas of the southeast and middle Ebro quadrant .

On Wednesday and Thursday there is a trend towards stabilization, with the possibility of precipitation only in the extreme north and nearby areas, as well as still high temperatures for the time of year, especially in the southern third of the peninsula.

Starting on Friday, a gradual decrease in temperatures with precipitation in part of the northern third is likely, without ruling out other areas of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands.

In the Canary Islands, trade winds will blow during the week, with possible rains on the more prominent islands, more likely from Thursday.
