General context
A high pressure area is strengthening over the British Isles as an area of low pressure stretches from Scandinavia to Spain via France. From Brittany to the Hauts-de-France, small showers occur in a cold atmosphere with frosts in the morning and 1 to 3 ° C maximum.
Of Pays de la Loire at Parisian basin until Hauts-de-France and to Ardennes, it snows lightly in the morning. with resistance to the ground (layer of 1 to 2 cm maximum, but which will make the floors slippery). In the afternoon, the weather becomes drier again in these regions under severe cold with no more than 0 to 3 ° C maximum.
From Lorraine at Alsace to the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté at north of the Alps until Massif central, the sky is very cloudy and a few flakes may flutter. It is really cold with only -1 to 2 ° C maximum. The thaw will be difficult.
Atlantic regions spend the day under the clouds, with showers all over the Aquitaine basin due to the presence of a depression which descends from the Bay of Biscay towards the north of Spain. It’s cold: we expect a maximum of 2 to 6 ° C, up to 8 ° C on the Basque coast.
Near the Mediterranean, it is cold under a threatening sky because of a depression off the Var. Showers occur from Provence Côte d’Azur to Corsica. Be careful in the morning because of the snow that falls as far as the plain of the Var hinterland from Bouches-du-Rhône to the lower Rhône valley. From 0 ° C in the morning, it is 4 to 7 ° C in the afternoon with peaks of 9 ° C on the Côte d’Azur.
