wearing a mask again compulsory in Montauban, Moissac and Castelsarrasin

Wearing a mask is once again compulsory in the center of three towns in Tarn-et-Garonne: Montauban, Moissac and Castelsarrasin. A decision taken by the prefecture to limit the risk of contagion in the face of the Covid epidemic.

The prefect of Tarn-et-Garonne issued an order again imposing the wearing of a mask in three towns in the department. This concerns Montauban, Moissac and Castelsarrasin. The mask is therefore compulsory in the streets of city centers from 8 a.m. to midnight.

It must also be worn in certain public places throughout the department:

  • flea markets and garage sales
  • open air markets
  • unpacked sales
  • near stations and bus shelters
  • fair festivities

This measure concerns people over the age of 11 and is in effect until August 7.

Curb contagion

In Occitanie, the Pyrénées Orientales department is also one of the areas in which the mask is again compulsory. The incidence rate reached this Friday, July 16, 257 per 100,000 inhabitants. In this department, the prefect also decided to close bars and restaurants at 11 p.m. from Sunday July 18.

In Tarn-et-Garonne, the incidence rate (number of new patients over a given period) for the period from July 7 to 13, amounts to 47.6 per 100,000 inhabitants, close to the alert threshold set at 50 per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate is 1.7. For the prefecture, this is a clear acceleration of viral circulation. The department’s level of vulnerability has changed from “limited” to “moderate”.

Wearing a mask should help curb contagion and prevent a massive influx of patients into hospitals.
