We reached an agreement to further expand support for entrepreneurs and employees

Taking into account the rapid spread of Covid-19 virus and the need to strengthen security measures, the Cabinet of Ministers on December 1 approved amendments to the conditions for granting downtime support, returning to the Ministry of Economics’ initial offer and significantly expanding the range of potential beneficiaries.

“This crisis is a challenge for all of us: both entrepreneurs and other economic operators, who still have to adapt or even suspend their businesses since the spring, following the government’s measures to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus, and the government, which must respond just as quickly to offer support to those who are most directly affected or affected by the regulations introduced by epidemiological safety, “emphasizes the Minister of Economics Jānis Vitenbergs.

“Already last week we decided that entrepreneurs affected by the Covid-19 restrictive measures in all sectors would be eligible for support. Today, the government corrected the criterion of falling turnover by returning to the Ministry of Economy’s original offer. a wide range of entrepreneurs who have been fighting since the first wave of Covid-19 and have only partially resumed operations, “the minister continues.

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers has decided to reduce the qualification criterion for receiving support to 20% (the current regulation provided for 50%) turnover. This means that downtime support will be available to companies, self-employed persons and patent payers whose income from economic activity for the respective month of support has decreased by not less than 20 percent compared to the average income of August, September and October 2020, in which the company actually operated. .

It was also decided to increase the amount of downtime support for patent payers to 400 euros (the current regulation provided for 330 euros). This means that patent payers who are unable to work due to the implemented security measures will be able to receive downtime support in the amount of 400 euros, if a patent is valid during the support period, the ministry explains.

At the same time, it has been established that in the conditions for granting downtime support, it is necessary to specify the norms that determine the amount of the minimum support if the employee works for several employers.
