Meeting on pay rises on 29 July
The PSL senator reveals that the meeting on the regulation of the remuneration of state officials and parliamentarians took place on July 29 in the office of the Deputy Speaker of the Senate Piotr Zgorzelski. At the same time, he points out that he does not know who initiated the meeting.
I do not know who initiated such a meeting, but I was at such a meeting in the office of Deputy Marshal Piotr Zgorzelski, where we discussed the issue of remuneration. The meeting was also attended by Marshal Ryszard Terlecki (head of the PiS parliamentary club), Marek Borowski (KO senator), Krzysztof Kwiatkowski (independent senator), Marek Pęk (deputy senator of the Senate, PiS) and Marek Martynowski (head of the PiS parliamentary club senators group)
– he says.
The senator claims that during the interview no details of the project were agreed, only its “outline”. MPs’ salaries were to be linked to the national average.
Moreover, for each completed term, the parliamentarian was to receive 5 percent. the basics, but no more than a total of 30 percent. It was also said that the salaries of local government officials should be regulated. We did not talk about the president, the First Lady and the ministers
– he points out.
Libicki was to pilot the bill on pay rises
The PSL senator emphasizes that he has agreed to lead the project.
Unfortunately, on August 1, I was diagnosed with coronavirus and I was hospitalized. The case of my piloting this act has fallen
– he points out.
Libicki he does not change his mind and believes that the issue of politicians’ salaries must be regulated.
If I had attended the meeting, I would have voted in favor of the law on remuneration for civil servants. I want to make it clear: I would vote in favor. (…) However, I am aware of a certain awkwardness that parliamentarians regulate their own salaries. It was therefore possible to apply the solution stating that all changes in remuneration would apply from the next term of office
– he convinces.
