The Orthodox Church honors the memory of St. Stilian of Paphlagonia, who lived in the late 4th and early 5th centuries. He distributed his property, became a monk and became famous as a miraculous healer of children, which is why he received the nickname Babysitter.
The saint is considered the patron saint of pediatrics and pedagogy. The icon in the village of Satovcha, Razlog region, the saint embraced 14 babies. The holiday is called “Shtiri” in the Rhodopes.
