I believe that we will play at least a quiet middle and then we will see. There are a lot of matches. Just as Sigma had a short distance to the European League last year, she was one step away from the group by a parachute. In short, it was about one or two points, so it shouldn’t be a problem.

How would you characterize Sigma, as a player today?
I see a lot of young boys there, very well prepared, handy. However, it must add to the emphasis. They did not manage a lot of matches, even if they led, in the end, due to their lightness, frequent losses of balloons. I hope that there will be as few mistakes as possible, that we will give our opponents a minimum chance and learn to manage the matches 1: 0, 2: 0. It must not be repeated that we lose 2: 3 from 2: 0. That was the reason why they didn’t play for Europe in the end.
After arriving in Olomouc, you became a captain. Was it clear right away, or did you have to give something to your predecessor Vít Beneš for it?
I didn’t give him anything. The coach simply called me, Víťa, David Houska with me and said that I would be the captain and they would be the assistants. But if I wasn’t the captain, I would play the same role in the team as I do now. The tape has no effect on that.
Another disaster before the start of the football league! The coronavirus struck again, but it is being played in Pilsen

In Sigma, you should not only be a player, but also a kind of mentor for young people. Compared to Pilsen, will it be quite different?
Certainly. Here I try to advise the boys in training, for example when it comes to a position, how to solve this or that situation better, and when they manage it and find out that it works, I enjoy it. I definitely don’t want to be smart, I really try to help them, not only them, but the whole team, and I think that’s important. If they understand, we will all benefit.
Did you take an example in this direction from someone whose side you once played in Sigma?
There were more such fighters here. Radim Kučera, a great personality, was here when I started. Then Míša Kovář returned from abroad and I also played with David Rozehnal. I also met other seasoned players in the national team, abroad. You could say that I took something from everyone and now I’m trying to pass on the experience here.

Sigma Olomouc defender Roman Hubník starts his business and will soon open a store in Olomouc.

You talked about the frivolity that Sigma paid for last year. Will the team be able to eradicate this scandal, even with your help?
We’ll see. I’m such that when the boys lose the ball, I tell them to quickly throw it behind their heads, that anything can happen. But when someone coughs up a balloon, they won’t sprint back, if they have, then these are things that are foreign to me that I hate. When I see something like this on the field, a sharper word will probably come. Of course, just trying to help.
