The President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, has displayed his enthusiasm at the start of the vaccination campaign against Covid-19.
“Let us have confidence (…)”
After the injection of the first dose of vaccine against the new coronavirus on a 78-year-old woman in France this Sunday, the head of state Emmanuel Macron spoke on his Twitter account. “We have a new weapon against the virus: the vaccine. Hold together, again. The vaccine, fully covered with no upfront costs, would not be mandatory“, he said.

The tenant of the Elysée recalled that the priority went to the elderly living in communities and vulnerable health professionals. “Let us have confidence in our researchers and doctors. We are the country of the Lights and of the Shepherd, reason and science must guide us“, he added.

One million vaccinated by February
After Sevran and Dijon this Sunday, around twenty establishments will be affected by the vaccination campaign starting Monday, December 28. According to the office of the Minister of Health Olivier Véran, 23 establishments in the regions of Paris, Lille, Lyon and the Tours sector should also start the vaccination starting next week.
The vaccination will intensify to reach around 100 institutions for the elderly in the first two weeks of January. By February 2021, it is expected to reach one million vaccinated among those over 75 and health professionals over 65.
