The coach of Limeño Municipal, Misael Alfaro, confirmed its continuity for the next season. He still had the contract in force, but he pointed out that he was the one who proposed a 25 percent reduction in salary to help the board pay the expenses for the next contest.
Alfaro was emphatic that there is a limit on the team’s budget and they will not move from there. That is why “the campus has been renewed a lot” because the intention is to cut the workforce. “I proposed that they reduce the salary by 25 percent to help the team. I wanted to continue and they have given us that continuity. Now we are focused on what’s next,” said Alfaro.
“They (directive) made me an offer and I made them a counteroffer because I wanted to help and stay with the team. Now they have arranged with the players to let them know how the situation is,” said Alfaro.
The squad will present many new features in relation to those who played last Clausura 2020 with eight players who will not follow. Meanwhile, others like Edwin “El Ínter” Sánchez were renewed. For this reason, the team “will have to restructure it,” said the helmsman because now they are going to bet on young people “because they want a team with a lower score.”
“We have to put together a decent team, a nice one, that can give a lot of fighting and that has a football idea already established. It will be a modest squad but that will fight and with the condition of developing young people to the maximum and also have a group of players with experience, “he added.
The strategist from Santa Rosa said that the task now comes to reinforce the team. “With the measures that have been mentioned, we can hardly hope to hire expensive players, but I reiterate that the important thing is that whoever arrives, does it to work and do his best for the Municipal Limeño,” said the coach.
Regarding the total cancellation of wages, Alfaro acknowledged that “it is a relief for the entire campus. We recognize the effort that leaders make to keep us up to date.”
The Municipal Limeño was ranked seventh in the general table last Clausura 2020 with 14 points, far from the claims that had been drawn.
