Supporters dispute a deal with Qatar Airways and have tried to force an end to the call
Bayern Munich’s first General Assembly since the start of the pandemic was quite hot. At the center of the controversy was the sponsorship agreement with Qatar Airways, which the management of the German club intends to extend until 2023, but with resistance from a group of partners, who made themselves heard loudly at this magnificent meeting. Michael Ott, a lawyer and partner at the Bavarian emblem, stood up for that group and addressed Bayern’s Board of Directors, asking for an end to the deal. Ott even asked a court in Munich to force the issue to be discussed in AG, but in vain, which motivated a tremendous boo from those present in the hall. Even so, the associates did not give up and took another motion to a vote, which forces Bayern to respect human rights and fight against discrimination. It passed with 77.8% of the votes in favor and the votes against of the entire leadership… In the face of President Herbert Hainer’s reluctance to terminate his contract with the airline, many supporters shouted: “We are Bayern, you are not !”
