WC hockey U20 | And where is the Czechia? fans wonder about the jerseys of the 20 at the World Cup. The hockey association comes up with an explanation

The only exception was the December 2020 championship in Canada, which had to be terminated early due to the coronavirus. When the organizers of the tournament decided to postpone the tournament to August, one would have expected that after almost eight months, the Czechs would already have “Czechia” on their jerseys. But they don’t…

“We alerted Nike to the wrong inscription on the jersey already in the winter. Of course, the jerseys should have “Czechia”, as the national team had this year at the World Cup in Finland. But from the IIHF/Nike, the Czech twenty-two got exactly the same jerseys as in the winter,” explains the hockey association on Twitter in response to a question from hockey analyst and O2 TV Sport colleague Jiří Vítek.

“They only changed the name tags of the players who are new in Canada at the junior championship compared to the canceled winter championship. As Czech hockey, we have no choice but to warn Nike again and appeal so that this does not happen again at the next championship,” continues the Czech Ice Hockey Association.

“We received feedback from the IIHF on Tuesday that the adjustment compared to the winter did not take place due to timing reasons. However, IIHF representatives assured us that at other tournaments, including the nearest Women’s World Cup in Denmark, “Czechia” will already be on the jerseys, added representatives of the union.
