Houston, Beritasatu.com – Scientists have made a groundbreaking discovery that could change the course of our existence in the future. According to a research team from the Institute of Geology and Geophysics (IGG) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences led by HU Sen, water glass beads caused by meteorite impacts have been found on the moon.

A study published by ‘Nature Geoscience’ has uncovered water reservoirs.

It is estimated that a total of 270,000 million tonnes of water has been collected as a result of this activity. Each gram of glass beads can contain up to 2,000 micrograms of water.

Over the years research has been published proving the presence of water on the moon in various forms.

Some have explored the formation of ice in areas where the sun doesn’t reach it, while others have looked at the presence of hydrogen and oxygen, the two components of water present in the moon’s atmosphere.

Studies have stated that the presence of the sun causes water to be lost to space but is continuously replenished. This indicates that there are reserves of water on the surface of the moon that allow the cycle to continue.

These reserves of water are found in glass beads caused by meteorite molten rock crystallizing due to the high temperatures of the impact. with the moon

According to PhD student HE Huicun, the sun is the reason behind their existence on the moon.

The sun continuously ejects streams of charged particles that impact the moon, producing hydrogen and oxygen. Water molecules are then formed and trapped as glass beads.

Scientists are still investigating whether the water found in the glass beads is suitable for human consumption.

This discovery is undoubtedly a breakthrough in modern science as the moon begins to enter into question as a human habitation destination in the distant future.
