84 Animals rescued from Neglectful Conditions in Orange County Home
Warwick, NY – Authorities removed 84 dogs, cats, and exotic animals from a home in Orange County this week, citing severe neglect and alleged animal cruelty. The animals were discovered at a residence in Warwick and are now under the care of the Warwick Valley humane society.
The investigation, which began in 2024, culminated in charges against homeowner Hickey for animal neglect and cruelty. Additional charges are pending related to the recent discovery. The case highlights ongoing concerns about animal welfare and the strain on local resources when responding to large-scale animal hoarding or neglect situations. The Warwick Valley Humane Society is seeking public assistance to provide care for the rescued animals and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
Investigators executed a search warrant at the property, finding the animals living in unsanitary and overcrowded conditions. The animals included a variety of breeds of dogs and cats,as well as several exotic species. Details regarding the specific exotic animals have not yet been released.
The Warwick valley Humane society is currently assessing the health and behavioral needs of each animal. Many require immediate veterinary attention, including treatment for malnutrition, skin conditions, and othre health issues.
