Warwick‍ Davis to Return as Filius Flitwick in New Harry Potter TV Series

Warwick ‌Davis will reprise his role as Professor Filius Flitwick in the upcoming ⁢Harry Potter ⁢television series,‌ HBO ⁢has confirmed.The Bafta-winning actor ⁢originally portrayed the beloved professor in ​all eight Harry Potter films ‌based on the books by J.K. Rowling. Davis is ⁤the first actor from the film⁤ franchise to be confirmed ⁣for a role in the new series.

While ⁢Davis will return as Flitwick, the role of Griphook,‌ previously played by Davis in the ‍films, will be taken on by Leigh Gill, known for his work in Joker and Joker: Folie à Deux.

The casting announcements were ⁣made during the annual “Back to Hogwarts” festivity on September 1, a day commemorating the return of students to the ⁣Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and‌ Wizardry. Other new cast members include Elijah oshin as Dean Thomas, and ​Finn Stephens and William Nash as⁢ Vincent Crabbe and Gregory ⁤Goyle, respectively.

Joining them are Sirine saba as professor Pomona Sprout, Richard​ Durdon as Professor Cuthbert Binns, and Brid Brennan as Madam Poppy Pomfrey, alongside previously announced stars John Lithgow (Dumbledore), Nick‍ Frost (Hagrid), Janet McTeer (Minerva McGonagall), and Paapa Essiedu (Severus‌ Snape).

Production began this summer,⁢ with⁤ the first image of 11-year-old Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter released. The series is expected ⁤to ⁣take 10 years to⁢ complete, with the first installment slated ‍for release in‍ 2027. Filming will take place‍ at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden ⁢in Hertfordshire, ‌the ‍same location used‌ for the original Harry Potter films.

HBO has stated the series will be⁣ “a faithful adaptation of ‌the iconic books,” and will allow for a more⁤ detailed exploration of ‍the storylines than was possible in the⁢ films.
