Warsaw. Collection for equipment for WIM

The fundraiser is a bottom-up initiative that took place without consulting the management, the Military Institute of Medicine informed, referring to the fundraising organization for the hospital’s equipment. “The initiative was carried out in consultation with the representatives of the Military Institute of Medicine, on the basis of a properly granted power of attorney,” the foundation wrote in a statement on Saturday evening. She added that the collection was canceled on November 21 at the request of WIM representatives. “The funds were returned to the donors,” reads the statement.

Last week, the Mocni na Startcie Foundation, which deals, among other things, with the organization of ultrasound training and workshops, launched a collection for the equipment for the Military Medical Institute at Szaserów Street.

“We support the Clinic of Internal Diseases, Pneumology, Allergology and Clinical Immunology of the Military Institute of Medicine. We organized a collection for the purchase of a high-flow oxygen ventilation device for patients infected with COVID-19” – the foundation wrote on Facebook and announced that PLN 17,605 was needed for this purpose.

“The apparatus, for which the funds will be allocated, makes it easier for patients suffering from dyspnea to breathe and helps avoid intubation” – she explained.

Collection canceled “for objective reasons”

A few days later, on Thursday, the foundation thanked everyone for the donations, saying that “there are more and more of them”. “We hope that with your help we will reach our destination quickly. The device is urgently needed by patients from the hospital in Szaserów infected with coronavirus” – we read in the entry.

The link to the fundraising campaign launched on the websiterzutka.pl on Saturday was no longer active. But not because the foundation managed to collect the entire amount, but because they themselves ended the fundraising campaign ahead of time. “For objective reasons, the collection has been canceled. The money collected through the portal spalka.pl will be returned to your bank accounts, from where you can transfer them to another good cause” – the organizers announced on Saturday.

“The collection was canceled on November 21 at the request of the representatives of WIM”

On Saturday evening, the Mocni Na Startcie Foundation announced in a statement that the fundraising was “its initiative, which was carried out in consultation with the representatives of the Military Institute of Medicine, on the basis of an appropriately granted power of attorney – in accordance with the requirements of the portal spalka.pl”.

“Without the presentation of the relevant documents, the screenshot would not be verified by the crowdfunding portal, and thus the Foundation – after achieving the collection goal – would not receive any funds. The collection on the above-mentioned portal was canceled on November 21 at the request of the representatives of the Military Institute of Medicine. The funds were returned to the donors” – Foundation wrote.

She emphasized that “the Foundation’s objectives include activities for and in the field of, inter alia, health protection, which is carried out by providing financial and material support to medical facilities, including the purchase of equipment, devices and materials, free of charge, or making them available to medical facilities and institutions”.

“The Foundation, as far as possible, declares assistance to all healthcare entities and medical personnel. At the same time, we assume that there is never too much modern medical equipment in any hospital, especially during an epidemic. Any bottom-up initiatives (such as this one) are not aimed at causing any media turmoil, creating negative information, etc. The Foundation wanted to help and the declaration of such help is still upheld. The Foundation implements many smaller and larger initiatives supporting the Polish health service and its employees. We admire the work of doctors and their dedication to the fight against the coronavirus “- we read in the statement President of the Management Board of the Mocni Foundation at the start of Zuzanna Janowicz.

Statement by Fundacja Mocni na Startcie on a fundraiser for the Military Medical Institute

WIM: the collection is a bottom-up initiative

Earlier on Saturday, the authorities of the Military Institute of Medicine issued a statement on the collection. They assured that the hospital had full protection, both with ventilators and other medical equipment and materials “necessary to provide medical care at the highest reference level”.

The management also informs that from the beginning of the pandemic, it has been buying equipment and modernizing the clinic so that the operation of the facility is adapted to the current epidemic situation. “The value of funds spent on this purpose already exceeds the investment expenditure that took place in previous years. The fundraising organized by Fundacja Mocni na Startcie is a grassroots and social initiative aimed at purchasing a device for non-invasive high-flow oxygen therapy of patients with COVID-19. WIM has already purchased 7 such devices, thanks to which, from next week, patients treated in covid clinics will be able to use them “- we read in the statement.

Finally, the authorities of the Military Institute of Medicine emphasize that the fundraising took place without consulting the management of the hospital, but “as any initiative of this kind, it deserves recognition”.
