Hamburg.In the collective bargaining dispute in the airport security industry, the Verdi union is calling for an almost nationwide warning strike. On Tuesday at the airports Frankfurt, Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg, Hannover, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf and Cologne/Bonn the inspectors stop working all day, as the union in Berlin announced. The airport association ADV expects that tens of thousands of passengers will be affected.

Frankfurt Airport: No boarding possible

The Verdi union has called on security forces in passenger control at several German airports to go on all-day warning strikes on Monday.
Cologne/Bonn Airport expects flights to be canceled
Cologne/Bonn Airport expects “significant disruptions to flight operations” on Tuesday. A total of 123 passenger flights are scheduled for this day (60 departures, 63 arrivals), which corresponds to around 12,000 passengers.
Airport BER: Many flight cancellations expected
Passengers at the capital’s airport BER have to be prepared for problems: “We expect significant restrictions in air traffic,” said a spokesman for the operating company on Monday. Passengers should check with their airline in advance whether the flight will take place. Passengers should plan more time at the airport.
Hanover and Bremen airports: Several flight cancellations possible
22 departures are planned in Hanover, but it is expected that some of them will be canceled, a spokeswoman said on Monday. In Bremen, 13 departures were scheduled.

Stuttgart Airport: Effects still unclear
According to the airport company, around 50 take-offs and just as many landings are currently planned at Stuttgart Airport. It was not initially clear how many of these flights would be canceled or diverted because of the warning strike. “We strongly encourage travelers to check flight status with the airline before heading to the airport,” said an airport spokeswoman.
Second strike within a few days
In the past week, the collective bargaining talks, which were also accompanied by warning strikes, remained without result, and a new negotiation date has been agreed for Thursday. Among other things, Verdi is calling for the hourly wages for aviation security services to be increased by at least one euro per hour and wages to be adjusted regionally.
