Hamas fired rockets warning Israel not to continue annexation of the West Bank

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, GAZA – Group Hamas fired a barrage of rockets toward the sea on Wednesday (1/7). It was a warning aimed at Israel not to continue the planned annexation of the West Bank.

Reportedly on the Times of Israel page, Hamas launched around 20 rockets. But the military said it was not aware of any rocket fire. The rocket launch was carried out when thousands of Palestinians in Gaza welcomed Hamas’s call for demonstrations against the annexation of the West Bank.

In the action, they waved the Palestinian flag while carrying placards reading “Not for annexation” and “Palestinian lives matter”, referring to the anti-racism movement in the United States (US), namely “Black lives matter”.

“Resistance must be revived. Israel is afraid of power, “said Rafeeq Inaiah, one of the Gazans who participated in the demonstration.

Hamas and Islamic Jihad, two of Gaza’s most powerful resistance groups, have threatened to escalate clashes along the Israeli border. The threat was expressed when the situation was relatively calm for several months in Gaza.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has scheduled annexation West Bank on Wednesday (1/7). But he decided to postpone it. Netanyahu hinted that he was still in communication with the US.

Netanyahu did not dismiss that annexation of the West Bank is a complicated process. There were many diplomatic and security considerations which he could not discuss publicly. “We say that (the annexation) will occur after July 1,” he said.
