Warm air on the way: – Excited to see how hot it gets

The storm center that moves at high speed in from the Norwegian Sea to northern Norway brings with it so-called dry wind. This is dry and warm air, which gives mild temperatures.

Even though southern Norway is sheltered from the storm itself, the dry wind will hit this part of the country.

– For Western Norway, it will probably be gray and rainy, but in Eastern Norway there will be stays. The warm air comes into Eastern Norway late in the afternoon or evening on Sunday, and it can make it mild in many places, says StormGeo meteorologist Roar Inge Hansen.

In fact, it is already mild in some places. In Rekdal in Romsdal, it was a full 13 degrees Celsius on Saturday.

Can be windy

The meteorologist does not know how mild it will be in Eastern Norway, but he is waiting in excitement to get the answer.

– I’m excited to see how hot it gets and how high the temperatures get up during the night until Monday and the first part of the day on Monday.

Monday seems to be quite nice for Eastern Norway’s part. The meteorologist reports stay-at-home weather, shelter from the wind in the lowlands and perhaps a glimmer of sun. Hansen estimates that it will probably be between 10-11 degrees in several places, but that it will be a little colder in the evening.

At the same time, he points out that the storm in the North, for which Eastern Norway is sheltered, may cause it to blow a lot. In some places in Eastern Norway there may be strong winds, especially in the mountains, and in the lowlands Østafjell’s small gales in some places.

Even though Møre og Romsdal and Trøndelag escape the worst of the storm, the meteorologist says that they will have strong winds and up to storms, but according to the meteorologist nothing beyond what is normal.

The rest of the storm heads south

From Tuesday, the low pressure that creates storms in northern Norway continues down to southern Norway, and then gives gusts between southwest and northwest.

– It is a favorable direction for southern and eastern Norway, and it means little or no precipitation and maybe a little sun. While for us in Western Norway, these low pressures cause a strong storm in parts of the area.

There can also be storms in the mountains and locally Østafjells, but this mostly applies to the mountain areas.

– For the most part, Eastern Norway and Southern Norway get a lot of good weather, but maybe a little mild wind.

According to the meteorologist, it can also be quite nice during the week and towards the weekend in the south and east of Norway.

– It can still, even with the strong low pressures, be 10-11 degrees and mild weather with dry wind. And this can continue towards next weekend Østafjells, but still with some wind at the same time.

Expect a lot of snow in Western Norway

Western Norway south of Stad must cover mild weather and rain showers later in the week. On Thursday there may also be sleet showers.

– Unlike in the south and east, which will experience snowmelt and no particular replenishment of snow, the situation will be the opposite in the west. It will be mild here too, but there will be a lot of snow. So here it becomes rather a problem that there is too much snow, says Hansen.

Up to double-digit temperatures in the south and east of Norway thus means that some snow disappears. According to the meteorologist, this is pretty bad news for the skiers.

– Those who would like to go skiing must probably realize that there will be no special refills until you are up at the border to Western Norway or Trøndelag this week. And it is clear that with the dry wind, it eats away at the little that is already.

In Central Norway, there will be periods of gales between southwest and northwest in the coming week, and up to strong gusts along the coast. You have to expect a lot of rain and sleet, while the precipitation on Thursday will mostly come as snow showers. Varying temperatures are reported.

Quieter in northern Norway from Tuesday

For northern Norway, a severe storm is expected from Sunday afternoon to Monday. From Tuesday, the weather maps show that it will be calmer, and that the low pressures will disappear to the south. There will then be a cold air in the north, but the wind will decrease.

– There will then be snow showers and such as it should be in the winter, but the storm is over, Hansen says.

Further out during the week there will be snow showers, but also a glimmer of sun. At times, sleet showers are expected in Nordland. In Finnmark, little precipitation is reported.

– From Tuesday, there will be a westerly and northwesterly gale that decreases to breeze. Near normal temperatures, StormGeo reports.
