Wang Yi Meets with Slovenian National Council President
Ljubljana, September 14, 2025 – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, met with Marko Lotrič, President of the National Council of Slovenia, and representatives from the council in Ljubljana today.
During the meeting, Wang Yi outlined China‘s growth path, emphasizing the importance of a country finding a path suited to its own conditions.He explained that China has successfully forged a path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, blending Marxist principles with China’s unique history and culture, and enjoying strong popular support. He affirmed China’s commitment to continued openness, enduring development, and modernization, as well as its dedication to mutual respect and win-win cooperation in international relations, ultimately striving for a community with a shared future for mankind.He assured Lotrič that China’s continued growth will create opportunities for Slovenia and other nations.
Wang Yi underscored the crucial role of people-to-people exchanges in strengthening bilateral ties, praising the National Council of Slovenia’s contributions to fostering understanding and friendship between the two countries. He reiterated China’s principle of treating all nations as equals, nonetheless of size, and expressed China’s desire to deepen practical cooperation and multilateral collaboration with Slovenia, upholding the UN-centered international system and contributing to peaceful resolutions of international disputes. He also stated that China is not the cause of current European challenges and should be viewed as a partner, not a rival. wang Yi further expressed hope for Slovenia’s continued support of the one-China principle and its active role in promoting stable China-Europe relations.
President Lotrič highly commended China’s modernization achievements, noting the mutually beneficial nature of Slovenia-china relations. He highlighted the rapid growth of economic and trade ties,as well as fruitful exchanges in various fields,contributing to the development of both countries and strengthening friendship between their people. The National Council of slovenia expressed its willingness to enhance exchanges with Chinese legislative bodies and expand cooperation in areas such as economy,trade,investment,culture,science,technology,education,and sports. Lotrič announced his intention to lead a delegation to the upcoming China International Import Expo. He also welcomed and supported President Xi Jinping’s Global Governance Initiative, expressing Slovenia’s readiness to collaborate with China in promoting global peace and development.
