Until now, Wallonia was considered as a “yellow” zone by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control.
Cn Sunday, Belgium as a whole went into an orange zone on the ECDC (European Center for Disease Prevention and Control) map.
ECDC publishes two different maps. An international map, where Belgium has been colored orange since July 25.
ECDC also publishes another map, European only, where countries are subdivided into regions. In the latter, only Flanders was in orange until Sunday, August 2, while Wallonia remained in yellow, which is no longer the case.
For the Sciensano epidemiologist, Brecht Devleesschauwer, it would be interesting to apply the ECDC color codes at municipal level, which would give this.
In comparison, he notes on Twitter, this is what the map looked like at the lowest point between the two peaks.
