The main indices of the New York Stock Exchange again broke their records on Thursday, continuing their upward trend of the end of the year and boosted by the good health of Amazon.

By reaching 9,022.39 points (+ 0.78%), the Nasdaq even exceeded for the first time the symbolic threshold of 9.00 points. This is the 11th straight increase session for this highly technological index.

The Wall Street star index, the Dow Jones Industrial Average, appreciated by 0.37% to 28,621.39 points and the broad S&P 500 index rose by 0.51% to 3,239.91 points .

“The bar of 9,000 points is indicative of how the market has decided to see the world since the beginning of October,” notes Patrick O’Hare of Briefing.

According to the expert, investors are “reassured by the fact that the United States has not entered a recession and are satisfied with the commercial situation and the accommodating tone of the American Central Bank.”

Until further negative news disrupts the market, the upward movement should continue, says O’Hare.

Thursday, the New York market also benefited from the strong growth of Amazon (+ 4.45%).

The Seattle giant was pleased to have hired more than 250,000 people, full-time and part-time, during the holiday season.

The group also reported record sales during this period through the sale of tens of millions of Amazon branded products.

These figures seem to echo a report by Mastercard, also published on Thursday, indicating an increase in online commerce of almost 19% over a year between November 1 and December 24.

The mass distribution sector saw its sales increase by 3.4% (excluding the automotive sector), according to the same report. The department store chains Costco (+ 0.51%) and Walgreens (+ 0.94%) saw their titles progress.

On the bond market, the 10-year rate on US treasury bills fell to 1.893%, against 1.900% at the previous closing.
