Edik Planson, a student at the IUT in Toulouse, channeled his expertise in electronic and computer engineering into this aspiring undertaking. The resulting robot stands one meter tall, measures 90 cm wide, and weighs 25 kg. Its design features articulated arms, tank-style wheels, and two distinctive mirror-like eyes, evoking the charm of the 2008 animated film directed by Andrew Stanton.

From Childhood memory to Engineering Feat

The inspiration for the project reportedly stemmed from a casual online browsing session.While looking at vintage toys, Planson encountered an item that reminded him of a lost childhood possession, sparking the idea to build his own version of the robot.

Leveraging his academic knowledge and practical skills, Planson embarked on the creation process. He designed and 3D printed key components, including the robot’s cube-shaped body, head, articulated arms, and tank wheels. The advancement wasn’t without its challenges; Planson noted that he had to restart certain aspects of the build after initially making the mistake of attempting to fabricate all parts simultaneously.

despite these hurdles, Planson persevered, ultimately completing his creation. This project marked a significant milestone for the young engineer, representing his first fully realized endeavor from conception to completion.He reflected on the experience, stating that it taught him the importance of seeing projects through to the end, a contrast to his previous tendency to start but not finish initiatives.

Future Plans for the Wall-E Robot

Currently,the robot is controlled via a remote controller. Planson intends to showcase his creation at various cultural events in toulouse. furthermore, he expressed a desire to present the robot in hospital settings, aiming to bring smiles and a sense of joy to patients.
