Walking in heels is like a gym

Strengthens the pelvic muscles and helps to achieve orgasm

The pandemic has taken away many of our reasons to wear high-heeled shoes and has been going on for so long that it is possible to give them up altogether. And this is not a good solution, even if at first glance it seems only as a female whim against the background of far more important things that the coronavirus changes in our lives.

A Chinese study found that wearing heels is extremely beneficial for women and is equivalent to a full workout of the hip muscles. Researchers at Fudan University in Shanghai have studied the movement of 1,263 women. They were asked what shoes they use and for how long, and then they examined their health. So they came to the conclusion that 5 cm heels work best. When moving at such a height, the woman tilts her pelvis enough to cause his muscles to contract repeatedly and thus keep themselves in good shape. The greatest effect is observed in those ladies who wear 5-centimeter heels for at least 8 hours a day. Almost no benefit has been found in higher and lower shoes.

Scientists believe that their research may help women who face problematic pelvic floor muscles. And it turns out that they are not small. According to the American Medical Association, one in four women has some form of low pelvic floor, and this can affect many aspects of her lifestyle. For example, it is surprising to start writing when he laughs a lot, or to stop having an orgasm during sex. Overweight women over the age of 35 who do not exercise and lead a sedentary lifestyle usually complain of such problems. The reason is that the pelvic floor acts as a kind of hammock for the organs above the pelvis and if its muscles do not function properly, this affects their work.

Therefore, experts advise women to do special exercises to strengthen them. Julie Brewer, a pelvic floor specialist in Texas, recommends practicing diaphragmatic or deep abdominal breathing for between 5 and 10 minutes at least once or twice a day, combined with tightening a specific muscle group. The easiest way to determine who they are is to try to stop the flow of urine while peeing. Pay attention to which muscles you tense for the purpose so that you can work on them later. If you can’t locate them, insert a finger into your vagina and tighten until you feel the muscles around it.

Once you have identified them, contract and release them as you inhale and exhale. There are different positions from which you can do it. For example, lie on your back with your knees bent and place your hands on either side of your abdomen, then begin to tighten the muscles around the urethra, trying to stop peeing. Inhale and hold in this position for 3 seconds, and in subsequent sessions increase the time to 5, 7 and 10 seconds. Slowly relax all the muscles as you exhale. You can also perform the exercise by lifting the pelvis while inhaling and tightening the muscles, or lying on your stomach with your palms facing down and under your forehead. A cat pose on which you stand on your knees and palms is also recommended. As you inhale and tighten your muscles, your back should contract in the form of an arc, just as cats do when preparing to fight an enemy.

The ultimate goal is to keep the muscles contracted for ten seconds and even more relaxed and each training series to contain 10 repetitions, done in the morning, noon, evening. With regular exercise, the effect is usually seen between the fourth and eighth week. Over time, you can double the number of contractions, but do not overdo it, as excessive tightening and relaxation of the pelvic floor muscles can have the opposite effect.

Chinese scientists warn that even wearing heels may seem a far more tempting option for training, as it does not require focused effort, it also carries some risks. If the ladies have no experience with such shoes, it is possible to cause injuries, falls and pain in the legs. In other words, do not buy 5 cm heels, especially if you have never worn them before and are already 40 years old. Moreover, earlier studies show that after this age they lead to significant problems in the imbalance. British scientists have found that high shoes do not support the foot properly, the load on it is not even and our posture changes. The tendons in our feet weaken and the arch relaxes. Therefore, they advise women not to madly follow the fashion trends and the example of their favorite stars of show business and if they experience discomfort and pain when wearing heels, just give them up, no matter how many claims about their benefits appear.
