Hermans was asked for her opinion on the matter in the TV program WNL op Zondag, after heated discussions about Sahla’s position arose in the debate over the government statement this week. Sahla is now committed to combating radicalization and is active within the VVD as table chairperson for terrorism and radicalization, which means that she leads substantive discussions on these topics.

PVV leader Geert Wilders, who has been protected for years because of threats from a radical Islamic quarter, attacked the VVD hard. According to him, his own safety is at stake because of Sahla’s position within the VVD.

Hermans emphasized again in WNL on Sunday that Sahla does not work for the VVD group and does not have access to the House of Representatives building. But she also admitted that she is “in her stomach” with the matter. “I think we should think about this, and we do.”
