VVD member of parliament Durk Pool leaves Frisian politics because of spreading fake news Inland

The 54-year-old Pole had created the Twitter account @fnpfoarfryslan. He posted messages on behalf of the FNP, including about the wolf position of that party.

The FNP had found out through an IT specialist who was behind the fake party account. Party chairperson Sijbe Knol reported a possible breach of integrity to the provincial registry. After the party made the issue public on Wednesday night, Pool argued against the Leeuwarder Courant already sorry.

‘Border crossed’

Pool has now decided, in consultation with his group, to cancel his membership of the States, the VVD said in a press release. ‘In consultation it has been established that a limit has been crossed and that the functioning of Durk Pool in the States is no longer possible.’

This means that the VVD will see two of its four Members of Parliament leave in two weeks’ time. Earlier, Esther de Vrij decided to make the switch to municipal politics.
