Italy and Greece risk an infringement procedure by the European Union. The EU Commission has opened the procedure for not respecting the rules on passenger rights because during an emergency coronavirus the two countries have adopted legislation allowing airlines and / or shipping companies to offer voucher which one form of compensation to canceled flights and trips because of the pandemic (and not even the refund as required by European law). The two states have received a letter of formal notice which constitutes the first phase of the procedure for infringing EU rules. They have two months to respond.
