Voter survey on Twitter – Söder asks Aiwanger to apologize

After his controversial tweet during the federal election, Prime Minister Markus Söder asked his deputy Hubert Aiwanger to apologize. He now wants to express himself.

After the anger about the publication of voter surveys for the federal election, Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger wants to make a public statement in the state parliament. He wanted to do this right at the beginning of the session at 1 p.m. in the plenary hall, said the head of the Free Voters and Vice-Prime Minister on Wednesday at the request of the German Press Agency in Munich. Prior to this, Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) had demanded a public apology from Aiwanger.

Aiwanger tweets voter survey – election law violation is examined

Söder and Aiwanger had met on Wednesday morning for a crisis discussion, as Söder announced afterwards, according to participants, in a meeting of the CSU parliamentary group. So Söder left open what the apology should look like.

Aiwanger had distributed numbers from a post-election survey on Twitter while voting for the federal election on Sunday – combined with the call to give the “final votes” to the free voters. The tweet was deleted after a short time. Since then, the Federal Returning Officer has been investigating Aiwanger’s violation of the electoral law.
