Volodymyr Zelensky urged Ukrainians “not to panic” because of Russia’s aggression

President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky recorded a video message in which he urged Ukrainians “not to panic” because of Russian aggression, and also said that the authorities were trying to achieve peace through diplomacy.

“We have a strong, courageous army ready for anything, and this is not news … We rely, first of all, only on ourselves. Not because we don’t have support, but because we have dignity and pride. And that’s why we have partners. And the level of their support and the international coalition is higher than ever. And this is not news. We are ready for anything, but we do everything so that we do not need it. We are doing everything to solve it diplomatically, we are doing everything to bring peace to Ukraine,” Zelensky said in a video message on Wednesday.

The President stressed that now “the only reason for panic is if, after eight years of war, Ukrainians are still subject to this panic.”

“All our citizens, especially the elderly, need to understand this. You need to exhale. Calm down. Do not run for buckwheat and matches… Keep calm, cool head, self-confidence, in our army, in our Ukraine. Do not wind yourself up, react to everything wisely, unemotionally. Head, not heart,” Zelensky said, and called on the media to “be exactly the media, and not mass hysteria.”

Since the fall of last year, reports began to appear in the media citing intelligence about the concentration of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine. The US and other Western countries suggested that Moscow was preparing a military invasion. The Kremlin rejected these claims.
