Volleyball players in addition to the three main Estonian players also lose in the second test game / Day

The Latvian national team conceded to the Estonian national team with 0-3 (22:25, 17:25, 22:25), but the fourth set was also played, at the end of which the housewives were superior with 27:25.

Elvita Dolotova, Elza Smilškalne, Kristīne Dzierkale, Anija Jurdža, Ingrīda Šveigere and Lāsma Ozola, as well as “libero” Elīna Zvaigzne and Linda Šteinberga started the game as part of the Latvian national team.

In the first set after Jurga’s “run”, Latvia took the lead with 9: 4, however, at the 12: 9 result, the housewives scored four points in a row, and the Latvian national team was able to reach a draw only twice, losing the set with 22:25.

In the second set, Latvia took the lead with 4: 1 against Polina Bratuhin-Pitu after the Jurga block, but many mistakes in the reception of the service allowed the Estonians not only to immediately equalize the result (4: 4), but also to convincingly win the set – 17:25.

At the beginning of the third set, the housewives immediately took the lead with 4: 1, but with Ozola’s edge and diagonal player Vladas Pridatko’s catch, they were caught and overtaken – 10: 9, forcing the Estonian coaching staff to demand a half-minute break. A similar fight continued until 17:17, and then the winner was determined by the great main attacking power of the home team Kertu Lāks and the mistakes of the Latvian team – 25:22 in favor of Estonia.

In the additional set, with several leaders at rest, the three-point deficit was eliminated at the beginning of the set and after several more excellent Ozola servings took the lead with 10: 8, but after Dzierkale’s service also reached 16:12. Rūta Linde, the third Latvian national team player, stood out with a couple of good actions, but thanks to the efforts of Bratuhina-Pitū in the attack and Ingrida Kīska’s last attack, the housewives also managed to win this set – 27:25.

Pridatko was the most productive in the ranks with 12 points, ten points for Svigere and Ozola, nine points for Smilškalne, seven for Dzierkale and six for Jurga.

The housekeepers Kertu Lāks scored 23 points in the first three sets, attacking with 60% accuracy.

“The plan of the game was to serve more aggressively than yesterday, because yesterday the service didn’t really fly and there were a lot of mistakes,” says 18-year-old Latvian national team leader Elza Reknere about the game. “Today we did it, we served more aggressively, we made it harder for the opponents to attack, and so it was a little easier to play on their own.”

The player says that it is not possible to be completely satisfied with the first two games without winning. “We are slowly going to it, playing games, learning from mistakes and, compared to yesterday’s game, it was already better,” says the winner of the previous season of the Baltic League.

She emphasizes that “it is quite difficult to play against the Estonian block because the players are tall. Then you have to play faster and hope for a good serve so that the middle block can be jerked at the first pace and there is only one block on the edge that can be played more easily. . “

In a conversation with LVF, Reknere did not hide that the work invested in training is felt very tired, but it is forgotten during the games.

“After yesterday’s analysis of the game, we noticed the 11th number (Kertu Lāka) and today we also focused on her. We evaluated what she did yesterday and arranged the block better, as if we stopped a bit, but in the end she also played us again, because really with a player We didn’t make it, “says one of the most experienced players in the national team, Ingrid Schweiger, who plays for the Salzburg club.

She agrees that the absence of the three players missing today “was very noticeable in the attack, as there was still a lack of players who settle the attack to the end or do so at crucial moments.”

On the first day, the volleyball player’s black ceiling and white lamps slightly disturbed the coordination, but in general she calls the grass very pleasant. Sveigere emphasizes that playing for the Latvian national team has a different responsibility compared to seasonal games at the club.

“It’s different for me that these girls are young and I haven’t played with anyone except Inese Jurson, with whom we used to play beach volleyball, and Paul Nechiporuk, with whom we fought at the Kuldiga club. I’m not used to the current team members, but the girls here are colossal, with colossal skills, and I really like them all, “is happy to be able to defend Latvia ‘s national team colors.

On Thursday, the game in Paide will start at 12. The game will be available live on the website of the Estonian Volleyball Federation on the Facebook platform.
