Volkswagen ID.Cross Concept Previews Upcoming electric Crossover
MUNICH – Volkswagen unveiled the ID.Cross concept at the IAA Mobility show in Munich, offering a strong indication of the compact electric crossover slated to arrive in dealerships next year. The ID.Cross will expand Volkswagen’s electric vehicle lineup, complementing the existing T-Cross model with a thermal engine-not replacing it.
The ID.Cross measures 415 cm in length with a 260 cm wheelbase, 184 cm in width, and 160 cm in height. Design elements include a LED matrix headlight array merging with a illuminated VW logo and a rear design echoing the Golf and VW Bus. The rear features a full-width LED light band.
despite it’s compact size, the ID.Cross offers 450 liters of trunk space, plus an additional 25 liters under the front hood. The interior features an 11-inch instrumentation display and a 13-inch central infotainment touchscreen, voice control, and a suspended central console with wireless smartphone charging. A “relaxation mode” allows seats to recline forward during charging stops.
The concept is built on an evolved MEB platform with a front-mounted electric motor producing 211 CV. Volkswagen projects a WLTP-cycle range of 420 km, figures expected to be similar in standard production versions.
