Vlaams Belang raises minimum pension requirement due to inflation | Money

Member of parliament Ellen Samyn refers to the statements of Vooruit chairman Conner Rousseau on the party’s website. It reads that the minimum pension of 1,500 euros has almost been achieved “thanks to the index increases” and that the target will be reached in 2023, a year earlier than he had promised when he took office in the Vivaldi government.

“But that’s pure peasant deception. The 1,500 euros from 2019 is now barely worth 1,335 euros net to the purchasing power of then, as the consumer price index has risen 11 percent in the meantime,” said Samyn.

Moreover, Vlaams Belang does not want to know about the principle of working 45 years in order to achieve the minimum pension, since “virtually nobody achieves that”. The party sets the bar on the equivalent of 40 years of work.
