Vizzotti and Bauer toured blood donation posts at the Malvinas and South Atlantic Islands Museum

The Nation’s Health Minister, Carla Vizzotti, and her Culture counterpart, Tristán Bauer, today visited the blood donation posts set up this week at the Malvinas and South Atlantic Islands Museum in order to facilitate this solidarity action that allows to save lives.

“We are working with the Ministry of Culture, the Posadas Hospital, the Malvinas Museum and the province of Buenos Aires on the importance of voluntary and regular blood donation in a very special setting such as the museum, which makes it very exciting,” the minister indicated.

Then, Vizzotti highlighted the articulation between Culture and Health, which in this case, in addition to blood donation, allows “to maintain a permanent memory of our islands and our sovereignty.”

In his turn, Bauer affirmed: “Health and Culture, Culture and Health, there are many undertakings and programs that we carry out and today we are here in the framework of World Blood Donor Day and in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Malvinas war conflict. ”.

In this context, the minister thanked “all the workers of the Posadas Hospital who came here and all the donors”, and called for blood donations because “solidarity and life are present there”.

Finally, the director of the museum and Malvinas ex-combatant, Edgardo Esteban, assured that this was a very special week for the activity to encourage donations and “also for what those days meant 40 years ago in the South Atlantic war conflict”. In this sense, he reflected: “Malvinas is also uniting us with life, with the possibility of having the opportunity to donate blood and being able to help people who are in complex and difficult situations.”

Also present at the tour were the director of Transfusion Medicine of the national health portfolio, María Susana Pisarello; the director of the Institute of Hemotherapy of the province of Buenos Aires, Laura González; and authorities of the Posadas Hospital.

The activity was carried out within the framework of the World Blood Donor Day that was celebrated on June 14 in order to thank voluntary donors and raise awareness about the need to make regular donations to guarantee the quality, safety and availability of blood and their products.
