Vizhinjam anti-port protest committee met in anger over the communal riots in Vizhinjam. On the 22nd, the strike committee had assured and entrusted the High Court that it would not block the construction of the port. In violation of this, the trucks that arrived with stones were stopped. People were recruited for this through the church. Earlier, the state government accepted six demands made by the protesters. Orders have also been issued. The government has made it clear that the construction of the necessary 7th port cannot be stopped. An expert committee has also been formed to conduct a study to find out whether the construction of the port is the cause of coastal erosion.

Port authorities in Adani decided to lay the stone on Saturday after obtaining the directive from the High Court and permission from the government. The strike committee intended to prevent this and cause casualties by throwing stones and violence.
Police report that the violence was aimed at a riot. The construction of the port hasn’t gone ahead for three months. Local residents are furious. The vicar general Eugenio Perera, who heads the strike committee, is well aware of this situation. At every stage, the government tried to prevent the collapse of the peaceful atmosphere. However, the strike committee was not ready to understand or support the government’s approach.
