Vivo will sell smartphones in Europe, but not yet in the Benelux – Tablets and phones – News

Vivo will sell its smartphones in Europe. The Chinese manufacturer is starting this in six countries, but the Netherlands and Belgium are not yet among them. The phones, including the new vivo X51 5G, are coming to Germany and France, among others.

Also in Italy, Poland, Spain and the United Kingdom vivo is going to sell its smartphones. The top model of the line-up for Europe is the vivo X51 5G, which is the European variant of the introduced earlier this year vivo X50 Pro met ‘gimbalcamera’.

Furthermore, vivo will offer midrange smartphones in Europe: the Y70, Y20s and Y11s. According to the manufacturer, those devices have a long battery life. All vivo phones released in Europe get a Snapdragon soc and a ‘minimalist version’ of Android. The manufacturer also releases wireless earphones: the vivo True Wireless Earphones.

Vivo already set up offices in Europe in November last year, including a European headquarters in the German city of Düsseldorf. More than 70 people now work there. A further 120 are employed at offices in the other countries where vivo is now active.

The Chinese brand vivo has existed since 2011 and is part of the group BBK Electronics, which also has the brands OnePlus, Oppo and realme in its portfolio. Those three brands already sell telephones in Europe, including the Netherlands and Belgium.

Vivo holds the second place in the smartphone market in China and the brand is the market leader in India. The manufacturer is active in thirty countries and had a worldwide market share of 9 percent in the second quarter of this year, according to analyst firm Canalys.

Vivo is regularly in the news with concept phones. Recently the manufacturer showed a device with a detachable wireless pop-out camera. In 2018, vivo was the first manufacturer to show a ‘full-screen smartphone’ with a fold-out camera, without a hole or notch in the screen for the front camera.
