“From what was told by the tourists who saw Viviana Parisi alive in Caronia after the road accident on the Palermo-Messina motorway, the lady was agitated and frightened”. This was stated by the prosecutor of Patti, Angelo Cavallo, owner of the investigation into the death of the 43-year-old DJ Viviana Parisi and the disappearance of her 4-year-old son Gioele. At the moment, a file has been opened against unknown persons for manslaughter and kidnapping. “Investigations continue in all directions – added the magistrate – at the moment we do not feel like excluding anything. Clearly, from how it was described, the fragility of the woman at that moment emerges ”.
New details following the testimonies collected would also emerge regarding the presence of Joel. As reported by the Corriere della Sera:
The tourist-witness of the crime story of Caronia showed up after thirteen days […] “Joel was alive, he was not injured, he was in his mother’s arms, upright as if he wanted to protect him. The head resting on his right shoulder, the eyes wide open ”.
The witness went on to state:
“I followed her with my eyes and saw her climb over the guardrail and head towards the mountain, taking a path above the tunnel”.
Claudio Mondello, lawyer of the Model family and also cousin of Daniele, Viviana’s husband, also returns to speak. The lawyer said: “Viviana was a fragile woman, she had also had problems with persecution and mystical delusions. For this she had been in the hospital and had had some treatment ”.
“It is not true, however – Mondello specifies – that the family took Viviana’s problems lightly, so much so that they accompanied her to hospital even in the middle of the Covid-19 emergency because she had her situation at heart. The woman passed from moments of lucidity to others in which she was confused and feared, even if there was no real reason, that they would take her away or that she might lose her son Joel, whom she was very fond of. She had been better lately, but the family always assisted her and never left her alone. Even if it is irrational, we always hope that Joel is alive and we continue the research ”.

In the meantime, for the 15th day, the search for Gioele, the 4-year-old child who disappeared on 3 August together with his mother Viviana Parisi, the 43-year-old DJ found dead five days later in the countryside of Caronia, continues in Messina. Even today about 70 people, including firefighters, civil protection, forestry, police, financial police and soldiers of the Carabinieri hunters unit and specialized dogs, are ‘beating’ the dense bush of the area where the woman’s body was found, checking also wells, fountains, drinking troughs and farmhouses. Today in the Prefecture of Messina a new summit to guide research. Joel’s family members also continue their inspection of the Caronia woods with the help of friends. Yesterday, Viviana’s parents asked the prosecutor of Patti, Angelo Cavallo, to be able to carry out research independently.
