What in Vitoria and Basque Country there are quality of life not only the people of Vitoria or the Basques say it. The statistics also say it, in this case, economic. The last Urban Indicators of the National Institute of Statistics place the capital of Alava in the eleventh position within the ‘top’ 50 of the municipalities in Spain with the highest per capita income, registering an average of 16,848 euros per inhabitant. A figure, that of the financial capacity of the population, which is usually linked to comfort and well-being.
The ranking is led by the Madrid town of Pozuelo de Alarcón (25,957) in which a total of 12 Basque municipalities appear, which make up Vitora together with six municipalities from Biscay and five from Gipuzkoa. The first to appear is Getxo (18,599 euros), which is sixth followed closely by Saint Sebastian, in tenth place with an average of 17,203 euros. Of course, if in addition to the income per inhabitant in a city, that of the nearby municipalities that make up its functional environment and with work influence, the capital of Gipuzkoa is the one with the highest per capita income in all of Spain.
Just one place behind, is the capital of Alava, which occupies the third drawer of the Basque podium. They are followed by Mondragón, Zarautz, Durango, Eibar … And in the 25th position, Bilbao, with 14,870 euros on average. The list below is completed by the Biscayan capital Leioa, Galdakao, Hernani and Portugalete. The study also analyzes other factors such as cities with higher and lower unemployment rate. Among the latter, San Sebastián is in fourth place, with a rate of 7.2% according to data from last year. Getxo with 8.7%, Vitoria, with 9.5% and Irún with 9.6% are included among the 15 with the least unemployment in Spain.
Rest of Spain
In the whole of Spain, of the 405 municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants, The three cities with the highest per capita income are, in addition to Pozuelo, Boadilla del Monte (19,702 euros) and Las Rozas (19,340 euros), all of them in the Community of Madrid. The other side of the coin is starred in Níjar (Almería), a municipality with the lowest income with 6,253 euros, according to the INE. He is accompanied by Alhaurín el Grande (Malaga), with 6,629 euros, and Los Palacios and Villafranca (Seville), with 6,550 euros.
The first major city to appear on the list is Madrid, in 15th place, with 15,717 euros, followed four places later by Barcelona (15,389). And the last positions are for municipalities of Andalusia, since apart from the three mentioned, there are Vicar (Almería) with an income of 6,634 euros, Isla Cristina (Huelva), with 6,823, and the people of Cadiz from Barbate and Sanlúcar de Barrameda, with 6,894 and 7,032 euros, respectively.
