Vitesse hired eighteen-year-old attacker Armando Broja from Chelsea for a year on Friday. FC Twente temporarily takes over former ADO Den Haag defender Tyronne Ebuehi from Benfica, with an option to buy.
With the London-born Broja, Vitesse will have a Chelsea talent at its disposal again next season. The Arnhemmers have been working with the English top club for a while.
“I know the examples from Mason Mount, for example, but also from Lewis Baker and Dominic Solanke,” says Broja on the site from Vitesse. “For myself I see Vitesse as the ideal club to make flying hours. I want to grow as a player and as a person. And above all: score a lot of goals.”
Broja, who is an Albanian youth international, already joined Chelsea’s youth academy in 2009. In March, he made his debut in the first team of the ‘Blues’ in the Premier League match with Everton (4-0 win).
“Armando is tall, strong and in recent years has proven to be easy to find the target”, says technical director Johannes Spors about Broja, who is the fourth addition to Vitesse this summer after Jacob Rasmussen, Maxi Wittek and Loïs Openda.
Ebuehi eighth acquisition for FC Twente
FC Twente acquisition Ebuehi (24) played for ADO between 2014 and 2018, where he earned a transfer to Benfica. At the Portuguese top club, the born Haarlemmer failed to play in the first team.
“In his time at ADO, Tyronne has shown to be a talented player. It is not without reason that he was selected for the national team of Nigeria and played at the 2018 World Cup,” said technical director Jan Streuer at the site from FC Twente.
Ebuehi, now a seven-time Nigerian international, is the fourth defensive addition to Twente after Gijs Smal, Nathangelo Markelo and the currently injured Kik Pierie.
With attackers Václav Cerny, Lazaros Lamprou, Alexander Jeremejeff and Danilo Pereira, the total number of newcomers is eight.
Twente also lost a player on Friday. Second keeper Jorn Brondeel signs with Willem II for three years, where he has to compete with the also new Robbin Ruiter.
