Corona B117 virus was found in Indonesia, precisely in Karawang, West Java. The new variant of the virus, which originated in England, infected two Indonesian migrant workers who had just returned from Saudi Arabia.
“A new variant of the Corona virus is reported to be in Indonesia. Entering Karawang, we have carried out the tracking and asked if the Unpad team may research UK B117,” said West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil at RSP Unpad, Bandung City, Wednesday (3/3/2021 ).
Ridwan said, as of Wednesday (3/3/2021) the number of residents who were exposed was only two people. Currently, the two people are undergoing isolation in their respective homes.

Kang Emil said that currently his party had asked the Health Office to coordinate with Unpad to conduct research. This is done to determine the steps taken by the West Java Provincial Government in dealing with this virus.
“Then how about the treatment we have asked the Head of Health Office together with Unpad to conduct a study. If the virus comes to West Java, how do we advise us in responding to the treatment. Is it the same or not, how, we are waiting for a study,” he said.
He added that his party had ordered tracing to the close contact of two Karawang residents who were infected with the Corona B117 virus.
The Karawang Health Office revealed that the two people who were exposed to B117 were women who worked as Indonesian Migrant Workers (TKI) in Saudi Arabia.
Data submitted by the Karawang Health Office, the two people with the initials M (40), residents of Lemah Abang District, and initials A (45), residents of Pedes District.
“As for the (type) of work, we do not know the details, which is certain to work as a migrant worker in Saudi Arabia,” said acting Kadinkes Karawang Nanik Jodjana, Wednesday (3/3/2021).
Nanik explained that the two Indonesian migrant workers who returned from Saudi Arabia arrived in Indonesia at different days and times via Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Both of them underwent a PCR test. The result is positive for exposure to the Corona B117 virus.
The authorities then asked the two to undergo quarantine at a hotel in Jakarta. “After being tested again, the results were negative,” said Nanik.
“So B117 is the first case in Indonesia, originating from UK, UK, September 2020. The spread is faster than Corona in Indonesia,” said Nanik.
“The team is tracking, additional isolating, tracing, further testing of close contact,” Emil emphasized.
Previously, to coincide with the one-year anniversary of Corona in Indonesia, Deputy Health Minister Dante Saksono Harbuwono reported the findings of 2 cases of mutation of the Corona B117 virus from England in Indonesia. This is the first case in Indonesia since the variant broke out in Britain in September 2020.
“Exactly 1 year today, we found a B117 mutation, UK mutation, in Indonesia.
