Virtual Boy Band PLAVE Releases New Album “PLBBUU” with Sanrio Collaboration

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA – November 11, 2024 – Virtual K-pop group PLAVE is ‍set to release its second single album, “PLBBUU,” on‌ Monday at 6 p.m. KST, marking a shift‍ towards a more colorful and ‌playful sound following the intensity of their third ‌mini-album, “Caligo Pt.1,”‍ released approximately nine months prior.

the album is a collaborative effort with Sanrio‌ Korea, blending PLAVE’s digital world with ⁢the iconic Japanese character brand. “PLBBUU” features three tracks: the title song “BBUU!,” “Hide and Seek,” and “Bongsoonga.”

“BBUU!” combines a breezy‌ R&B rhythm with upbeat lyrics, taking its name from the onomatopoeia for puckered lips. The accompanying music video depicts PLAVE’s members transforming into dolls and interacting with Sanrio characters. “Hide and Seek” offers a contrasting emotional⁣ tone, showcasing PLAVE’s signature band-driven sound and‍ serving as the Korean-language version of their Japanese ‍debut single, “Kakurenbo,” ‌retaining the original’s sentiment with newly translated lyrics.

The final track, “Bongsoonga,” introduces warmth through soft guitar melodies, drawing inspiration from the traditional Korean practice of dyeing fingernails with balsam flowers.

PLAVE debuted in March 2023 as a five-member⁢ virtual boy band comprised of digital avatars Yejun, Noah, Bamby, Eunho, and Hamin. They have quickly gained recognition, becoming‌ the first virtual act to perform at both KSPO Dome and Gocheok Sky dome, Korea’s two largest concert venues.

The release of “PLBBUU” ‌follows the prosperous completion of⁣ PLAVE’s first Asian tour, “DASH: Quantum Leap,” which⁢ began in seoul in August and included performances in Taipei, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Bangkok,⁣ and tokyo. Encore concerts are scheduled for November 21 and 22 at Seoul’s ⁤Gocheok Sky Dome.
