BREAKING: Sega has announced the immediate availability of virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, alongside a free upgrade for existing Steam players.The update brings significant enhancements to the classic fighting game, including planned cross-play functionality and improved netcode.
Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage is now available for purchase on the PlayStation Store for £7.99 (approximately $10 USD based on current exchange rates). Players upgrading to the PS5 version will benefit from planned cross-play support, rollback netcode implementation, enhanced training mode features, and the new World Stage mode. Importantly, all previously purchased downloadable content (DLC) associated with a user’s PlayStation Network (PSN) account from Ultimate Showdown will transfer to the new version at no extra cost.
Steam Upgrade Details
As of today, October 30th, 2024, owners of the Steam version of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. are receiving an automatic, complimentary upgrade to Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage. This upgrade does not affect existing content access for current owners.
Looking Ahead: New Virtua Fighter Project
Sega also provided a first glimpse of development on a new Virtua Fighter project, showcasing in-game combat within a training stage habitat. Further details regarding this next-generation title will be released at a later date. The original Virtua Fighter debuted in arcades in 1993, pioneering 3D polygon graphics in the fighting game genre.
