Virginia Tech Volleyball Loses to Virginia in Straight Sets

CHARLOTTESVILLE,Va. – The Virginia Tech ‍volleyball ​team fell to the virginia Cavaliers in three sets (25-23,25-21,25-20) on Wednesday evening,extending ‍virginia’s lead in the Smithfield Commonwealth Clash.

The loss drops⁣ the Hokies to [record not provided in text] ⁤while virginia improves to [record not provided in text]. The Cavaliers​ now lead the Commonwealth Clash rivalry series 2.5-0.5.The Smithfield Commonwealth clash ‍is a points-based⁤ series between Virginia Tech and the University of virginia, awarding points for⁢ head-to-head victories in all varsity sports. ‍

Isabella Mishler led Virginia Tech with eight ​kills, seven blocks, and one service ace, hitting .429 on the day. Payton Woods also contributed eight kills,‍ two digs, and one⁢ block. Each team contributed a service ace, while Mishler added two ‍blocks, including one assist with Reese Hazelton.

the ‍second set featured six ties, with Virginia taking a 7-7 tie and going on a 4-0 run. Tech answered with a 4-0 run of⁢ its own to knot it at 11-11. Payton Woods delivered key⁣ kills, but the Cavaliers closed strong to take the set 25-21.
