According to New York City statistics in the last decade at least 672 people have died from homicides related to domestic violence.
Many of the victims They do not dare to report because they do not have a support network that helps them with advice, shelter or other necessary support.
For this reason, the association was created. Violence Intervention Program (VIP) that specializes in helping Latina women who are victims of this type of violence.
They have an emergency shelter, which is an option for victims who fear being left without a place to live if they report domestic violence.
The families live in different apartments and receive counselling, defense of their rights and legal advice.
They also offer support in financial advice to be able to become independent.
Through financial literacy training and workshops, we help survivors establish bank accounts, credit, financial goals, balance a budget, and develop other essential skills.
The association offers emergency support through a helpline or Hotline: 800-664-5880 which works 24/7 for women in danger and from June 1 will be bilingual.
