A man in his 30s is seriously injured after an episode of violence in a grocery store in Fauske in Nordland. A man in his 20s has been arrested.

The incident happened in the Coop Mega store in Fauske on Monday night.

According to the Nordland police district on Twitter, the arrested man in his 20s must have used violence against two people.

A man in his 30s is said to be seriously critically injured, but stable, and transported to the University Hospital of Northern Norway in Tromsø by ambulance helicopter, while a man in his 20s is said to have received superficial injuries.

– The doctor on the spot described the injuries to the man as serious and critical, confirms operations manager Yngvar Fredriksen in Nordland police district to NTB.

The man who has been arrested, is charged with grievous bodily harm and is sent to the arrest in Bodø for further questioning.

– These are acquaintances of the police from a specific environment, no customers or employees in the store were attacked, says Fredriksen. He can not say anything about how well the three involved know each other.

The police will conduct witness interviews and crime scene investigations on the spot.
