VinFast Launches electric SUVs in ⁢India,‍ Offering models Starting⁢ at ‍Roughly ⁣$18,127

CHENNAI, ⁤INDIA – VinFast is challenging the Indian electric vehicle ⁤market with the introduction of ‍two new SUV models, the VF6 and VF7, priced to undercut manny competitors-with select ‌versions available for approximately 748,000 Turkish Lira. ⁤The Vietnamese automaker announced pricing starting⁢ at 1.6 million Indian Rupees (roughly⁤ $18,127 USD or 748,000⁣ TL) for the VF6 and 2 million Rupees (approximately $22,659 ⁤USD or 935,000 TL) for the‍ VF7.

This aggressive pricing⁣ strategy positions VinFast as a disruptive force in India’s ‍burgeoning ‍EV sector, offering vehicles⁤ at about one-third the cost of a Tesla Model Y in⁣ the country. While more ‌expensive than Tata’s most affordable ⁤electric models, VinFast undercuts the BYD Atto 3 SUV, which begins at around 2.5 million Rupees. The move signals‍ VinFast’s ambition to capture significant ⁣market share as India transitions toward ‍electric ⁤mobility, and impacts potential buyers seeking affordable EV ‍options.

VinFast’s entry is coupled ⁣with a limited-time offer: these introductory‍ prices are valid for the first 1,500 vehicles sold, and the ‌campaign extends until November 30, 2025. This creates a time-sensitive incentive ‌for early adopters.

Production will take place at ⁢a newly established factory in Throwhukudi, tamil Nadu, ‍supporting the Indian government’s “Make in India” initiative and reducing manufacturing costs.⁣ The‍ VF6 will be offered in Earth, Wind, and Wind Infinity trims, while the VF7 will have five versions: Earth, Wind, Wind Infinity, Sky, and Sky‌ Infinity.

Both⁤ models boast ⁢features like panoramic ceilings, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS),and spacious interiors. VinFast intends this Indian expansion to be a ⁣stepping stone toward increased sales in Europe and the ‌United States, leveraging competitive pricing to gain traction in global EV⁣ markets.
