Viktor Hovland won his fourth PGA tournament after the Morikawa crack

The victory in this weekend’s tournament is a sensation as Hovland was six strokes behind the leader, the American Collin Morikawa, before the last day.

Morikawa burst completely on Sunday and went, among other things, the first nine holes in five strokes over par. At the same time, Hovland played sparkling golf and climbed ever closer to the lead in the tournament.

An already solid round was phenomenal when Hovland noted eagles (two strokes under par) and then a birdie on holes 14, 15 and 16. Then the Norwegian golf star suddenly led the tournament by three kinds of margin.

No one was able to seal that lead. Hovland had to endure a bogey on the last two holes, but ended the tournament at 18 strokes under par and won by a kind of margin.

The closest Norwegian in the tournament was Scottie Scheffler, who went the last round at six under par and finished at -17 in total. Patrick Reed took 3rd place, while Morikawa finished in shared 4th place.

Only 20 players participate in the tournament in the Bahamas, and several of them are at the very top of the world. Thus, the title hangs high for Hovland, who also receives a prize check of 1 million dollars (9.17 million kroner).

The Norwegian has previously won PGA tournaments in Puerto Rico and in Playa del Carmen, Mexico (twice).
