View the corona figures of 6 April in six graphs NOW

The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) publishes an overview of figures on the corona crisis in the Netherlands every day. NU.nl brings together the most figures that are now known (Monday, April 6) in six graphs.

Number of new deaths is decreasing

The number of new deaths among corona patients has been decreasing since the weekend. The numbers below can still change, because it sometimes takes a few days before a hospital reports a death to RIVM.

Moreover, the actual number of deaths is higher than the number of reports, because not everyone is tested with a possible infection. This concerns, for example, deaths in care and nursing homes.

Number of hospital admissions is leveling off

The number of new hospital admissions has been decreasing since the peak of March 24. The smoothing is also visible on Monday. As with the number of deaths, the numbers from recent days may still change, but this is unlikely to alter the trend.

Relatively most infections in Limburg

At the request of several readers, we compared the number of infections reported per province against the number of inhabitants. In absolute numbers, the provinces of North Brabant (4,456), South Holland (3,361) and North Holland (2,891) have the most infection cases.

South Holland (3.7 million) and North Holland (2.9 million) also have the most inhabitants. If you look at the number of infections per hundred thousand inhabitants, North and South Holland are in sixth and seventh place respectively.

Relatively, North Brabant (approximately 174), but Limburg (approximately 180) has the most infections. Friesland has relatively the lowest number of infections.

Half of the deceased were 81 years or older

Half of the number of admitted corona patients is seventy years of age or older. Half of the deceased corona patients were 81 years or older.

9 out of a total of 1,867 deaths were under the age of fifty. At least two of them had serious underlying health problems. The youngest deceased was between 25 and 29 years old.

Significantly more men than women die from COVID-19

The number of infections is roughly the same among men and women. However, more infected men end up in the hospital than women with the coronavirus. More male than female corona patients also die. In both cases, nearly two-thirds are men. We explained why that is this article.

Cardiovascular patients are most at risk

About two-thirds of corona patients who end up in hospital and / or die have underlying conditions.

Cardiovascular disease is the most common among patients with a disease, followed by chronic lung disease and diabetes. Several conditions can be reported per patient.
